WHO WE ARE

Grant Russell

Grant graduated from Otago University before going on to do Specialist Urology Training and obtaining the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). Specialist Urology training was undertaken in Wellington, Sydney and London.

Grant consults at a number of locations in the Greater Wellington Region and undertakes Surgery at the following hospitals:

  • Southern Cross Hopital, Wellington
  • Boulcott Hospital, Lower Hutt
  • Wakefield Hospital, Newtown
  • Bowen Hospital, Crofton Downs

Grant is a member of the Department of Urology at Capital and Coast Health (Wellington Hospital).

He has a particular interest in prostate disease; prostate cancer and benign prostate disease as well as minimally invasive surgery for uninary tract stones.  Together with a Urology colleague, Grant has recently established MRI/ultrasound fusion guided prostate biopsy at Wakefield Hospital in Newtown. This technology allows targeted biopsying of areas suspicious for prostate cancer identified on MRI scanning of the prostate.

Pam Kavanagh

Pam has worked in medical administration and management in and around Lower Hutt and Wellington for a number of years – until she became Practice Manager for Capital Urology in 2010.  Pam has extensive knowledge and experience.

Carolyn Simpson

Carolyn has worked as a Practice Manager in both New Zealand and Australia – Carolyn has extensive practice management experience.
